Annual Mass: Today Christ is dependent on us

Annual Mass: Today Christ is dependent on us

After communion reflection:

“When a woman is carrying a child she develops a certain instinct of self-defence. It is not selfishness, it is not egoism. It is an absorption into the life within, a folding of self like a little tent around the child’s frailty, a God-like instinct to cherish and some day bring forth life. By his own will Christ was dependent on Mary during Advent: he was absolutely helpless: he could go nowhere but where she chose to take him: he could not speak: her breathing was his breath: his heart beat in the beating of her heart. Today Christ is dependent on us. This dependence of Christ lays a great trust upon us. During this tender time of Advent we must carry him in our heart to wherever he wants to go, and there are many places he may never go unless we take him there.”

On Sunday, December 7th at 12:30pm, the Dublin Sector of Teams of Our Lady gathered at St Vincent de Paul Church, Marino for a warm and grace-filled Annual Mass. Celebrated by Bishop Paul Dempsey, together with many concelebrating priests, the liturgy was a strong sign of the Church’s support for couple spirituality.

This year’s daytime celebration was especially appreciated, making participation easier for everyone — especially families. The addition of a children’s playroom was welcomed as a thoughtful gesture, creating a relaxed and inclusive environment for young parents.

The spirit of teamwork was felt throughout the liturgy: readers, welcomers, musicians, and many helping quietly behind the scenes. A joyful highlight was seeing children and adults spontaneously join the music group, a simple but moving expression of community.

After Mass, everyone enjoyed tea, coffee, and homemade treats — a time of fellowship that deepened connections and allowed gratitude to be shared freely.

It was truly a day where prayer, unity, and joy came together, strengthening our journey as couples walking with Christ.

    Thank you Dublin Sector Team!
We loved being able to share the Sunday Advent Eucharist with so many friends. Anticipating Our Lady’s Immaculate Conception together and asking her intercession for us, our loved ones and our Movement was very special.
Those home baked treats were amazing too😉!
