Cork: A Jubilee of Hope and Communion

The Spirit is moving powerfully in county Cork. As Teams of Our Lady celebrates a Jubilee of Hope, we were blessed to witness the fruits of the Movement among the vibrant, faithful couples at the end of their first year. Their joy, openness, and commitment are a true gift to the Church in Cork and to the wider Movement.

Gathering in the parish centre at Glaunthaune, we spent a grace-filled day of prayer, reflection, and fellowship. The day started with prayer in the spirit of Fr. Caffarel. Two presentations helped deepen understanding of the charisma and structure of Teams, and offered insight into its organisation. Together, we explored the foundation of the base Team and the transforming power of the Endeavours: the Sit Down, the Rule of Life, and Personal and Conjugal Prayer, in particular.

At the heart of each team is the Responsible Couple—servant leaders who help nurture unity, encourage growth, and serve as a vital link to the wider community. Collegiality, the shared exercise of leadership, brings together diverse gifts in communion and discernment. And the Call to Service reminds us that God often speaks through others, inviting us to say “yes,” like Mary, even in our feelings of inadequacy.

Fr. Pat, the new chaplain to the team, joined us for lunch and later celebrated the Eucharist – surrounded by music, thanksgiving, and deep joy. The day concluded with heartfelt sharing from local members, echoing the Spirit’s quiet work in every life.

As we stepped into the golden evening light, we carried with us renewed hope and gratitude – for community, for mission, and for God’s enduring faithfulness in the journey of marriage.
