25 Mar Growing in Holiness Together: A Blessed Retreat Day
On Saturday, March 21st, Dalgan Park was bathed in beautiful spring sunshine as couples gathered for the annual Teams of Our Lady retreat. Members travelled from Dublin, Mullingar, and Galway, joined by several new couples, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the very beginning.
Throughout the day, there was a strong sense of gratitude and joy. Many participants spoke of how uplifting and inspiring the retreat was, describing it as one of the most enriching they had experienced. The peaceful surroundings of Dalgan Park, combined with a spirit of openness and friendship, provided the perfect setting for reflection, connection, and renewal.
A highlight for many was the input from Fr. Patrick Cahill, whose engaging, cl
ear, and often humorous presentations deeply resonated. His ability to speak to the realities of modern life while gently guiding couples towards a deeper relationship with God left a lasting impression. Participants appreciated not only the depth of his teaching, but also how accessible and relatable it was.
Prayer emerged as a central theme of the day. Many were moved by the invitation to encounter God personally—“in the place of our greatest thirst”—and to grow in trust as beloved children of God. The reflections on healing, the interior life, and the importance of nurturing a personal and couple relationship with God gave much food for thought. Several couples shared how meaningful it was to explore these ideas together, strengthening both their faith and their relationship.
The opportunity to meet and share with others was equally valued. Conversations in small groups and informal moments throughout the day fostered a sense of community and mutual encouragement. For many, it was a blessing to be among like-minded people, united in a desire to grow in holiness and love.
While there was a common wish for more time—to reflect, to pray, and to hear even more—this in itself speaks to how rich and impactful the day was.
Overall, the retreat was experienced as a deeply affirming and inspiring day, leaving couples encouraged, renewed, and eager to continue their journey of faith together.
